Almost 40 years have gone by since I started The Stained Glass Workshop out of a love for light, color and the art of glass cutting. My photographic skills were born here as it was hard to find anyone with the on demand skills to capture the intricacies of the work at that time. Looking back on these old photos, it seems that I couldn’t do it very well either although it did subjectively fuel me to go off on yet another toot. Since then I have had or participated in a number of creative businesses ranging from basic machine design (My actual schooling is in mechanical design engineering, robotics and the like) to Bronze casting with the common thread always being creative photography / videography, shutter bugging away at every turn for fun and documentation of my own work.

Wait a minute ….

I woke up one morning and realized that my business acquaintances were asking me to document or showcase for them more often than I was doing it for myself. The AhHa moment had arrived: I would start my next business (my close friends tease that I am a serial entrepreneur) becoming a commercial photo-videographer. And in 2003 I did. After a few years of schooling, practice and a lot of mistakes, I morphed into what I have been told is “a pretty decent producer” due to the small business, creative, and technical knowledge that I have acquired along the way. This history enables me to do some leading edge work for my clients now through offering skill-sets and insights that they may not have been familiar with.

In this collection of early photos you will see the very origins of my camera work. Please don’t be to critical as these are copies of copies …, and perhaps, if not just for a minute, you can imagine my journey. OH and as a note I created or oversaw all of the glass art that you will see as well. Thanks go out to my X wife who did a lot of the leg work. She is a fantastic artist and it’s a shame that she has chosen to leave the field. Enjoy !
